The 2026 Hong Kong Book Fair is taking place from July 15 to 21 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. Organized by the Association of Christian Publishers, the "Christian Square" (基督教坊) is located in Hall 1AB. This year, seven organizations are participating, hosting over 40 events including new book launches, pastoral sharing sessions, and family reading activities.
On the afternoon of Saturday, July 18, reporters at the scene observed that foot traffic at the Christian Square and nearby religion-themed booths was relatively lighter compared to mainstream exhibition areas. At several stalls, boutique gifts and cultural products attracted more onlookers than the book displays. The Chinese Bible International booth—featuring a large, illuminated cross lightbox—served as a primary visual centerpiece for the area, while Logos Book House drew bustling crowds of readers browsing titles.
Participating exhibitors this year include Logos Book House（基道書樓）, Tien Dao Publishing House（天道書樓）, Chinese Bible International（漢語聖經協會）, Religious Education Resource Center（宗教教育中心）, Chinese Christian Literature Council（基督教文藝出版社）, Faith 828 International（信心828國際公司）, and JM Jewelry, with the Association of Christian Publishers（香港基督教出版聯會） serving as the event organizer. As in previous years, Breakthrough Publishing（突破出版社） set up a large booth in a separate section of the fair, while the Evangelistic Bible Study（福音研經中心） operated near the Christian Square.
The Christian Square is situated alongside booths featuring Catholic, Buddhist, Taoist, and other folk religion or spirituality themes. Nearby, representatives from other groups—including the Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses—were seen distributing publications such as The Watchtower and The Book of Mormon, actively engaging passersby to share their religious messages. Additionally, personnel from an Indian yoga group distributed pamphlets, inviting reporters to chant scriptures that they claimed would enable direct communication with "the divine."
In contrast, no active, street-style evangelism was observed at the Christian Square stalls, which focused primarily on displaying and selling Christian books and related merchandise tailored for believers.
The "Christian Square" is a designated section established annually at the book fair by the Association of Christian Publishers. In 2006, the square reached a peak scale of approximately 80 booths representing more than 20 organizations. In recent years, participation has stabilized at around seven to eight organizations. The reduced scale compared to its peak reflects the market and operational pressures facing the Christian publishing industry and associated ministries.
