• Taiwan Government's Initiation of Gay Marriage Bill Prompts Massive Protests of Tens of Thousands

  It was in October of this year when the Democratic Progressive Party drafted a bill that would legalize same-sex marriage in Taiwan. Less than a month later, the legislation has passed through the first round of vetting and because of this, thousands of protesters gathered at Ketagalan Boulevard to voice their opposition to the bill.

  

• Illinois Christian-Owned Bed and Breakfast Fined $80,000 for Refusing to Host Gay Wedding

  The owner of the Christian-owned TimberCreek Bed and breakfast are going to have to pay the $80,000 fine after a three-member from the Illinois Human Rights Commission composed of Commissioners Patricia Bakalis-Yadgir, Terry Cosgrove, and Duke Alden declined to review the earlier recommendation of Judge Michael R. Robinson. Judge Robinson found that Jim Walder, who owns the B&B declined the civil rights of Todd and Mark Wathen after he refused to have their wedding on his property.

  

• Army Corps of Engineers Halt Construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline

  Protesters are celebrating what Standing Rock Sioux Chairman Dave Archambault II calls "a win for all of America" after the Army Corps of Engineers denied a permit for the controversial pipeline. The Dakota Access Pipeline runs from Bakken oil fields in North Dakota and goes all the way to Patoka, Illinois.
